Thursday

Me and my mate arrived knowing f*** all people there, except my brother by he was long gone by the time we'd got to the campsite. It was me first time at reading so I had no idea what to expect, but Thursday night was legendary. Some random middle-aged couple even gave us a free burger each, not bad stuff eh? But after being pleasently suprised at being served I ventured back through the streets into the campsite carrying my 24 pack of carling with joy but unhappy cause me shorts kept falling down!! A good night overall next to 'The Gay Hotline Tent' in Brown F or G? can never remember which one it was only where it was.

Friday

It was time for the bands to do their bit of the weekend. We realised that most of the action was on the Main stage so we headed over and caught a band called 'Do me bad things', personally i'd only ever heard of them but was told they were pretty dire. They were alright, i guess but they had one singer who did almost Dance music similar to something like Scissor Sisters, but then this other singer did Heavy Metal voices so they were too confusing to like. GLC were up 2nd, man they were funny! One of the best bands of the weekend, purely cause of the comedy value. 'F*ck your sister' and 'Your mother is a nutta' were the highlights of their set along with that other song were everyone chanted "F*ck you alica keys!". Some band called Thirsty Merc were on carling stage as we passed and we managed to catch their last song 'wasting time' i think it was called, they weren't really anything to cheer about. We went to get a Pizza next (for £5!) and it was damn tasty, although we didn't get the order we wanted, ah well a great discovery because of some thick chav behind the grill. "whats a pizza?" she seemed to say. We caught most of the wedding present who weren't atall impressive and i swear i heard them call themselves 'legends', legends to who exactly? We caught about 20 minutes of Alan Carr before Graham Coxon was to appear and i left with an aching jaw, when does he tour? this guy was quality. So we trekked off for Graham Coxon and it seemed to be a day of dissapointment on the main stage (apart from GLC) as he wasn't as good as people said he was, only highlight was 'Freakin Out' at the end which I could only sing along too. who was next? ah yes! the subways were on NME/Radio 1 Stage so we ran as fast as we could and caught nearly the whole set, best band so far of the day and i kinda wish i'd seen their whole set instead of Coxon. Headed back to the Carling Stage for We are scientists who were really good, but we missed the paddingtons (still can't remember why?) and ended up sat by the main stage watching Elbow! no idea how we got there but it somehow happened. Now it was gunna get interesting. The Coral pulled a quality set full of great songs like 'Bill McCai', 'In the morning' and 'Dreaming of you' and they were my suprise band of the festival, didn't think they'd be that good!! Queens of the Stone Age then rocked the Main Stage and the crowd drastically changed from Indie Lovers to alot of good old Metal fans. Kicked off with 'go with the flow' and carried on from their to be basically the best band of the day as i'd been longing for them...for so long! Now i'm not one to exaggerate so im not gunna, so the killers were.....F*CKING AWESOME! Classic set, so close behind QOTSA. 2nd time i'd seen em but i can't wait till the 3rd even 4th time (whenever that may be!). Pixies were up next and my legs were knackered i sat down through half the set so it wasn't as enjoyable as it could've been but my mate loved it all to bits.

Saturday

Woo! my mate in a wheelchair came down for the day so i wasn't alone with my happy camper friend. We went and saw Editors first and i brought my camping chair thing with me today cause my legs were aching all over. They were good but not as good as the first time i saw them. Ok the next band The Longcut were ultimately the crappest band of the weekend, utter shite really. I actually cheered when they left. We stuck around for the Cribs so we could get decent view for Nine Black Alps. Cribs were really impressive and i might go knick a copy of the album from next door! Nine black alps were up next and I loved every song they played can't wait till I see them in October. We went to catch Arctic Monkeys but it was packed so no luck there. But we got very good spots for Dogs who were class all the way through, again with the copying of the albums from next door. Back to the NME/Radio 1 stage for The Kills who were ultimately the 2nd crappest band of the weekend. Occasionally shouted 'bring on hot hot heat you twats!'. As you can guess i was looking forward to Hot Hot Heat alot!!! their album 'Elevator' is class, you should all listen! and i bought it so double the fun! We headed off to see the end of Razorlight and catch up with my Saturday visiting friend's family to watch the end of Razolright in complete bordem as they were about as entertaining as watching paint dry. Kings of Leon were on next and they were stunning, loved every minute of their set too. Foo Fighters proclaimed reading as the best festival. Too right mate V is shite. They were performance of the festival for me.
