my story begins on the wednesday i purchased an early pass with a couple of mates and as began to set up our tents i realised that i had forgotten to pack my tent poles! screams of BOLLOX followed and i arranged to have them brought up the next day after greeting the neighbours and getting my hairbraided i proceeded to drink and get heavily wasted.
Thursday
nursing a hangover and waiting till midafternoon before pitching my tent i strolled round the site taking in the beauty and festivity of brown camp (it really is the best!) i met a couple of mates and we "borrowed" the ketchup and mustard from the refreshment stalls and had a skipping rope challenge on sticky ketchup and mustard. I patried till 5 in the morning and then passed out.
Friday
Reading is extra special because i meet up with the girl i met this time last year we instantly...well you get the jist anyway we kick off with GLC- furrowly enjoyable with the new renditions of "your sister" and the infamous "Guns don't kill people..."
We await the coral deciding to take a further stance away from the front to chill to the liverpudlian lads acoustic tunes but i can't help but jive to "dreaming of you", "pass it on" and "Bill Makay"
afetr queing with my girl for an hour we rush to catch the queens and though crushed we enjoy the music concluding with the modified "No-one Knows"
An unlikely choice but i heard raves about Kasabian and neither of us particuarly like the Pixies so we got extra sticky and moshed to the proceesed beats of Serge and Co in the NME tent the perfect way to end Friday night wrapped up in the arms of my gorgeaus lover staring at the stars and listening to Britains newest heroes.
Saturday
a day that started and ended so well i had made a deal with myself not to miss the Birmingham based quartet Editors i had been hooked upon listening to tracks such as "Munich, Bullets" and Open your arms" prior to the festival and the stage presence and disbelief on the face of Tom Smith made my day.
we caught a couple of comedy acts before watching the impressive kings of leon though she had gone to see babyshambles and a deal was struck to meet before the foos i ran through the crowd to find her constantly thinking am i going to miss Dave!!!
triumphantly i clutched her and we sped off to the main stage in time to take in the "wow" factor of the lushious Dave Grohl.
Sunday
the last day me and Bry spent together was emotional not least that we were meant to be watching different headliners i wanted to catch Bloc Party and she is a massive Maiden follower we were torn but after watching the outstanding Maximo Park and being hypnotised on stage by Hugh Lennon we rushed to catch Maiden together (i can catch Bloc Party another day) i held her and we said goodbye as it will probably be another year till i see her face again...
what a festival
p.s who caught me onstage as Michael Jackson?
