2005 NEWS
More Tickets?, More People?
Reading Festival organizers Mean Fiddler are trying to get an increase in capacity of 10,000 for this year's festival
.
An application has been made to Reading Council to increase the number of attendees from 55,000 to 65,000. The results of this application will be known till about june, But we will keep you updated with any developments!
Leeds Festival licence approved in record time
The Carling Weekend: Leeds Festival had its’ licence approved in a record time of less than one hour for the 2005 event, with a unanimous decision from the Leeds licensing committee at Leeds Civic Hall.
The North’s very own festival will now see the biggest, best and most talked about acts over six stages and three days in the amazing natural setting of Bramham Park for the third year. Last year’s sell out featured headline performances from White Stripes, The Darkness and Green Day and this year is sure to continue a deserved reputation for the best music in the world throughout the weekend. With the capacity set again at 52,500.
Mean Fiddler MD, Melvin Benn said of today’s decision:
“This is great news. Last year’s festival once again demonstrated that Bramham Park is the perfect venue for the North’s only music festival and we can now look forward to another three days of great music and world famous bands in 2005.”
HEADLINERS
Headliners FOO FIGHTERS, IRON MADIEN, and the pixies will be headlining this years Reading and Leeds Festival.
Tickets
The first set of tickets has sold out, but don't worry guys there lots more to come around April time when the main bulk of the lineup is released. Ticket prices will probably rise about £5

Weather Warning
The Weather forecast for Reading means, we are going to be having a wet and muddy weekend, So Please bring suitable clothing and lots of it! boots or willies are a must,
Please check weather updates at www.metcheck.com
Tickets
Reading weekend tickets are sold out at most ticket agencies, some still have tickets available check the ticket page.

Wednesday
This year meanfiddler have introduced a fee of £10 to camp on Wednesday.
Normally you could go and camp on the Wednesday for free, just with no facilities, so does this mean there will be proper toilets and wristband exchange open on the Wednesday, I feel that’s the only way they can justify the charge, surely we are not paying £10 for a night in a field?

Ticket sales high
Demand for Reading festival seems higher then ever. A number of pre-release tickets where put on sale before the line-up was even announced. We have already sold out of these tickets. But don’t worry there will be more tickets on sale around April time when the line-up has been released.
This is Reading festival 2003 news:
Lost Prophets, Godsmack, White stripes
Have pulled out
Yes its true, More bands have pulled themselves
out for various reasons. But This has not been seen as bad
thing with some fans as there is now more space on the lineup
for other bands. With rumours flying around that Green day,
Deftones, Limp Bizkit and several others that could play.
Courtney Love
Has pulled out of Reading and Leeds Festivals
due to apparent "recording commitments" and has
nothing to do with her moaning about a poor place on the
bill! Many rumours flying around about who might fill the
slot but my guess is the band below.
Limp Bizkit
After canceling there tour dates access Europe
including the UK's download festival. Limp Bizkit have said
they will be playing some gigs and key festivals at the
end of August, Bands playing at reading aren't suppose to
announce them selves. So might just be a hint from Llimpbizkit.
There are not that many "key" festivals to play
then. They play a great live set so go and watch them!
Trains not running
On the weekend of reading festival trains from London paddington
to reading will not be running due to engineering works.
For anyone coming via this route can we suggest the London
waterloo line to reading. We hope this helps.
Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park to play
Strong rumours of the two bands playing has
come around after metallica have confirmed themselves for
Reading. This is because they are both touring with Metallica
this summer.
Metallica Playing.
Metallica have personally confirmed to be
playing at reading on Sunday night and at Leeds on Saturday.

Drugs, I feel this is relevant as this
happens at Reading Festival.

Encase you can't read the above article:
16-Year-old cautioned over large cannabis
stash
A TEENAGER arrested in possession of six
and a half ounces of cannabis last Friday has been cautioned
by police. The 16 year old was caught at around 8pm behind
guild gate house on high street, a well-know spot for drugs
users, arrcording to police. Police confiscated the cannabis
and cautioned the youth as it was his first offence. PC
Mark Everret of Crowthorne police station said "We
were quite shocked by the amount we found on him. Six-and-a-half
ounces is allot to find on one person". I want to stress
that cannabis is a class B drug and the law currently states
it is an arrest able offence to be in possession of any
amount of it.
Incase you where wondering, if all this was
sold off it has a market value of about £500-£600.
Campsite Confusion
So when does the campsite open? When the tickets
arrive there is leaflet with the tickets which says the
campsite opens on wednesday. BUT when I rang meanfiddler
to confirm this it turns out the campsite does not open
until midday Thursday. So due to some poor planning there
are going to be some unhappy campers on wednesday with no
where to go.
CCTV
Mean Fiddler have announced increased security
on site in the wake of serious incidents last year including
the rape of a 16 year old girl and chemical toilets being
torched. Toilets are to be better lit, With fences around
them also CCTV cameras will be installed. More security
patrols on the site are planned. - From Reading Evening Post
