All About Reading Festival
Reading Festival is the oldest UK music festival
it first started in 1960 where apparently there was National
Jazz and Blues Festival. Some of the bands included The
rolling stones. The event was very big at this time through
to about 1976 where Rock music on a whole started to die
out.
Mean Fiddler took control over the fading
festival in 1989 and changed the whole image of the festival
bringing from the past and taking it into future. They bring
more popular bands to the event like New Order and The wonderstuff
who where every popular at the time with festival goers.
The 90's really saw a change where we first
started seeing Grunge bands with Nivans first UK appearance.
Also there was more Metal towards the end the 90's, it is
now being called New Metal with bands such as Slipknot.
In 1999 we also saw the Birth of Readings Twin festival
in leeds. This is the only festival of this kind in the
world.
Well 2000 onwards is getting alot more commercial.
But they are keeping the quality of the bands up. With a
good range of bands.
